| ExperianExperian is one of the three major credit reporting agencies in the United States. In 1996, TRW, perhaps the most well known credit report company at the time, sold its Information Systems & Services unit to a group of investors. The Experian name and logo were introduced, and the investors sold Experian to The Great Universal Stores, a British conglomerate. If you have applied for, or you've been granted credit in the past, it is likely that Experian has you in their files. Many credit grantors rely on Experian data exclusively, or they may use an Experian creditreport in combination with reports from Equifax and TransUnion, the other two nationwide creditbureau companies. Many companies, when deciding whether or not to grant credit to you, use the FICO score - which is a creditscore based on your Experian creditreport.
